Molecular Epidemiology laboratory Services
Overview: Our network of molecular epidemiology laboratories are designed based on current scientific knowledge and technology. Our world-class experts also provide technical support and avenues for technology transfer. In addition, we provide laboratory equipment, tools and training to laboratories, institutions, universities and governments wishing to upgrade their capacity for highly specialized aspects of molecular epidemiology. We provide genome assembly services to obtain or construct consensus genome or high throughput map with DNA sequence information interpretation.
Sanger sequencing: Our laboratory sequence partial genomes encompassing various positions and the whole genomes. This method forms the basis of automated cycle sequencing as we know it today. It is a method of determining the nucleotide sequence of DNA based on dideoxy chain termination. We perform DNA/RNA extraction, amplification (polymerase chain reaction-PCR), quantification, purification, gel electrophoresis, sequencing and genetic analysis. This technology has been widely used for the detection of individual pieces of the DNA sequence and consensus genome sequence for genotyping.
Next generation sequencing: We are the leaders in next generation sequencing technologies ranging from 454 pyrosequencing to Illumina. Our team has devoted a lot of time in the application of the next generation technology to provide accurate, reliable, cheap and efficient methods in DNA technologies. Next generation sequencing provide high speed and throughput that can produce an massive volume of sequences with many possible applications in research and diagnostic settings for the detection of intra-host genome variability and evolution. This technology also allows for the monitoring of low-abundance antiviral drug-resistance mutations and the circulation and transmission of low level variants. This platform determines the sequence data from a single DNA fragments of a library that are segregated in chips, avoiding the need for cloning in vectors prior to sequence acquisition. We perform library preparation to achieve the desired coverage and depth, amplicon purification, target enrichment, sequencing, error correction and analysis. Next generation sequencing can be used for predicting and tracking infectious diseases and pandemics. This technology can be applied in forensics to investigate the network of transmission of infectious diseases.
Mobile molecular laboratory : We’re changing the notion of a sequencing laboratory often viewed in the context of an enclosed huge building. We make molecular technologies available and accessible to everyone. Our laboratory comes to you. You do not always need to go to the laboratory. These mobile molecular laboratories meets clients in their local communities, provide molecular diagnostic analysis and provide results on the spot. This revolution will reduce the turn-around time and provide high level science and complex technology at all levels.
