Afro-BiomeDX offers numerous diagnostic multiplex tests, some of which are developed within Afro-BiomeDX laboratories as well as those from our esteemed partners such as Innovative Biotech.

Our multiplex bead assays are similar to ELISA, but provides much more practicality than other platforms such as ELISA-based and others currently on market.

Our value proposition is inherently based on our bead-assay based technology. The Luminex multiplex bead-based assays have a number of significant advantages compared with traditional ELISA technology, including but not limited to:-

TIME & COST SAVING

Luminex systems allow testing of up to 500 analytes in a single sample. In the same time it takes to set up one ELISA, multiple analytes can be measured, significantly reducing labor cost.

SMALLER SAMPLE VOLUME

Depending on the expression levels, assays require 50 µL of sample or less for multiplex assays, while still obtaining accurate results for all analytes.

BROAD DYNAMIC RANGE

Multiplex bead-based assay provides the ability to reliably detect proteins across a broad concentration range.

HIGH THROUGHPUT

The Luminex system automatically reads up to 96 samples from a conventional microtiter plate. Combined with the ability to read up to 500 analytes per sample, this provides a high-throughput path to data collection.

EASY-TO-USE

Luminex multiplex runs on xMAP machine which is a user-friendly and displays results in excel format for the operator to read analyze. It’s laser-based analysis gives an additional advantage of violet laser (405nm) which excites a second molecule bound to the surface enabling a dual reporting, thus empowering user to acquire data for two parameters per data set.

  • Our approach to testing various diseases in a single specimen with a well-established referral networks within region puts us in a position to contribute to overall women health and safe delivery.
  • It’s estimated that 5500 young women aged 15-24years become infected with HIV every week. In Sub Saharan Africa, five in six new infections recorded between adolescents aged 15-19 years are girls. Women are most likely to acquire HIV during sexual intercourse with men through prostitution, injections, cultural practices and other sexual violence.
  • In 2019, globally women and girls accounted for approximately 48% of all new infections. Whilst in Sub-Saharan Africa alone, women and girls accounted for 59% of all new HIV infections1.
  • Bringing Multiplex Assay technology in such communities will enable detecting such new cases and other emerging pathogens likely to surface at any time. Current data shows women are disproportionally affected with not only HIV but also with Ebola, COVID-19, Hepatis B, C and many other diseases prevailing in this region.
